MOVIGEAR® SNI
Principle of single line network installation (SNI): Only one cable has to be installed for energy and information transfer.
Characteristics
- Single control
- Reduction in the number of components
- Bus lines do not have to be routed in the field
- No risk of hidden faults in the bus cabling
- Reduced startup times
- Shorter project runtimes / reduction of project costs
Applications
- As a drive for applications with high breakaway and starting torques.
- As a drive for conveyor systems that must be operated at varying speeds.
- As a drive for applications that require soft and/or defined start-up behavior.
- As a group drive for easier implementation of synchronous operation.
Application examples
- Belt conveyor
- Palette conveyor
- Roller and wheel conveyors
- Screw conveyors
- Container and packaging unit transports
- Chain and drag-chain conveyors
SNI installation topology
Installation topology with an SNI master
The following figures shows the principle of the MOVIGEAR
® single line network installation with an SNI master.
SNI communication principle
Data exchange between MOVIGEAR and PLC
-
The SNI master is the interface between PLC and connected MOVIGEAR® drive units.
-
The PLC receives status information of MOVIGEAR® drive units via the SNI master. The MOVIGEAR® drive units are also controlled via the SNI master.
-
The SNI master distributes the data accordingly to the connected MOVIGEAR® drive units.
-
The SNI master collects the status information of the connected MOVIGEAR® drive units and makes this information available to the PLC.
SNI overview
The following figure shows an overview of the communication principle and administration of the MOVIGEAR® drive units (1 to 10) in the data buffer of the SNI master.
Administration, parameter setting and diagnostics of the drive units is performed using the configuration and diagnostics
tool MOVIVISION®.
